Durak: An international Card Game

Durak is quite a fun card game. I have Mobility Ware’s solitaire app, even the paid one with 40 games (which it is very very fun), but I can’t believe it missed this card game. Gameplay:

The object of the game is to get rid of all your cards. To play you are dealt 6 cards. You can play against 1-3 players, who all then get 6 cards as well. After everyone is done being dealt, a trump card is put out underneath the deck. Then you start your attack. You put out a card from your deck and then the other player has to defend by putti g out another card of the same suite which is higher in value, or any card in the trump suite. Once they have defended you can put down any card that is already out in the playing field, any suite. If you dont have any cards that fit that qualification, you can double tap which will then put all the cards in the graveyard. If the other player couldnt defend, or you couldnt defend, the player that couldnt defend has to pick up all of the cards on the playing field. Also, if your defending (you switch off defending and attacking after either the cards are picked up or put into the grave yard) and you have the same card as the one the other player put down, such as they put down an ace, and you have an ace, you can put down your ace next to their card, which then would make it so that the other player then had to defend against both of the cards on the table, and then you are attacking. If you arent the last one with cards, then you win.

There are three difficulties, I play on hard personally. Also, something that I find very cool, is that you can edit whats on the back of the cards. I currently have a custom apple that I made with photoshop. I find this game very, very addicting and highly suggest it, but I cant force you to get it :) .

Darkness: Telling you when its dark

Darkness is a useful app that tells you a lot of information. First off, it shows you what time it is in different cities. This is really useful if you’re traveling. Also, it shows you where the sun is in the sky, whether its night, or if its day or dawn, etc. It tells you what time is sun rise, sun set, noon, moon rise, and moon set. Something that I learned from this app is what an azimuth is, which is the angle the sun is at.

It also tells you what the altitude angle is, and when dusk and dawn is for civil, like when its dusk and dawn for us, nautical, when it is for boats, etc., and astronomical, for when you can watch the stars :) . Overall, it gives a lot of information. I really like how it tells the dawn, dusk, and moon set/sunset/moon rise/sun rise times.

I find it very useful, and suggest it highly, but it’s up to you to get it. App store link

100sounds Contest!

Hey!

So, I’ve been gone for a while, so I’m working with developers to give YOU free apps!  Right now, we have 100sounds!  Thanks to No Tie Software, we have a few promo codes to give away.

Here’s the deal on how to win them:

You must visit 100sounds.com and look through the 100’s of sounds they have to offer.  Watch the videos showing how others have used the sounds, and post what sounds you would use and how you would use them. That’s it.

Remember, 100sounds gives users 100’s of ringtones via email.  This is a $.99 app that is being given away for practically nothing.

We will decide the winners by the most creative posts on how the sounds will be used.  All we ask is that a review is given in iTunes for the developer.  Be honest and fair.
That’s all folks!

Upsi Looper

Wow…Its been a while since I have written a review. I’m hoping to roll out lots more reviews in the coming weeks…we’ll see.

Anyways, this is a review of a fun, cute little app called “Upsi Looper”.

The developer describes the application like this:

Are you ready to cross the line?

Upsi Looper is a fast-paced, arcade action game, with 2 addictive game play modes.

The fruit festival mode gives you 1 minute to collect as many fruits as you can. Get huge bonus points by looping heaps of fruit at once.

Regular and Expert game modes have you dodging and looping enemies as well as fruit. How long can you last against ever increasing waves of baddies?

Features

* 2 totally different game modes
* Easy tutorial to get you used to the control and game play
* 24 Achievements to collect
* High scores
* Automatic save and resume
* Sound effects and in game music, or your music from iTunes

Upsi Looper will appeal to people who like Pokemon Ranger and Qix.

I was immediatly drawn to Upsi Looper with its cute yet simple graphics and sound effects. The game play is very easy to pick up. Its one of those games where you play it, start to think you’re doing really good, but then it says game over…and you just HAVE to try again, and again, and AGAIN! One of the best parts about this game is the fact that its easy to play in a short amount of time – making it ideal for a subway ride, bus ride/bus stop, etc. The object of the game is to loop around or hit the fruit with the black line/rope/snake thing. When objects that aren’t fruit appear, you have to loop around them to make them go away – hitting them will cause you to “die”, and start again.

I would definately recommend this app, especially since its available for just $0.99 in the app store.
